Procedures to Pick Up Meals
Information as of: March 16, 2020
Meal distribution for this week will occur on Tuesday, March 17th and Thursday, March 19th. Tuesday’s pickup includes meals for Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday’s pick up will include meals for Thursday and Friday. Next week’s pick up schedule may be different, we will share information as it is available to us. All meals will be obtained at Kelvin Grove, even if the student normally attends Milne.
Families that responded to the survey that they would like to have access to breakfast and lunch, are asked to come to Kelvin Grove School between 9 and 10am each pick up day. Families that did not respond that they would like meals, but are reconsidering, may pick up from 10 until 10:30am on each scheduled pick up day. Parents and/or children need only to come to Door 9 (remain in your vehicle unless on foot) and tell the food service distributor how many children under the age of 18 you need to feed.
Please understand that for this first week of distribution, we have ordered triple the number of meals that were indicated as needed in the survey responses. However, if demand outpaces our expectations, there is a possibility that we would run out in the 10-10:30 timeframe. Please email [email protected] if you initially said no to meals, but have changed your mind for next week. For next week, we will include your family in the order count and you will be able to pick up from 9-10am.
Procedure for picking up meals:
Access Kelvin Grove from 8th Street by turning into the driveway that leads to the playground.
Drive past the playground and stop outside of Door 9
Honk - STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE UNLESS ON FOOT (Knock if not in vehicle)
A food service distributor will ask you how many children under 18 you require meals for and will return to your vehicle with the grab and go sacks.
Children can access meals on their own; parents are not required to be present at distribution

Comcast is offering free internet service for low-income families
Starting next Monday (March 16), Comcast said, it will launch two new features of the Internet Essentials program. First, low-income families who live in a Comcast service area can sign up as new customers to receive 60 days of free Internet Essentials service, which is normally available to all qualified households for $9.95 per month.
In addition, the cable operator is increasing speeds for the Internet Essentials service from 15/2 Mbps (downstream/upstream throughput) to 25/3 Mbps for all new and existing customers, which will become the standard speed of the service going forward.
To qualify for Comcast’s Internet Essentials service, customers must be eligible for public-assistance programs such as the National School Lunch Program, Housing Assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, or SSI. Applicants can visit internetessentials.com to enroll in the program; they may also call (855) 846-8376 for English or 855-765-6995 for Spanish.
